Dr. Glen Burkett received his Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree from Massey University, New Zealand in 1990. After spending several years in general practice in England and Australia, he decided to pursue a specialty degree in dermatology. He completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Tennessee in 1996 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology later that year. Dr. Burkett has been practicing in Florida since 1997. He has been published in several veterinary journals and textbooks. Dr. Burkett regularly gives continuing education presentations to veterinarians and staff.
Dr. Leigh Burkett received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wake Forest University in 1991. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee in 1995. Dr. Leigh spent six years as an associate veterinarian in several small animal practices throughout the east coast. Since 2001, her focus has been on dermatology and business management. Dr. Leigh has several published veterinary articles.
Dr. Glen & Leigh Burkett married in 1996 and traveled for several years to Southwest Florida to provide dermatology and allergy care, which hadn’t been previously available in the area. Together, they started Animal Dermatology & Allergy in early 2000.
